The Spirit of the Drive

Early morning, or just as the sun begins to mellow in the afternoon, a convoy of 4x4s gathers at Alamana in Sharjah. Engines hum, radios crackle and there is an air of excitement as adventurers prepare to leave paved comfort behind. This is a self-drive trip—your car, your pace, your fun—with experienced guides leading the way.

What makes this route special is its accessibility: no hardcore dune bashing and no steep climbs—just a beginner-friendly trail of rocky paths, gravel plains and scenic unpaved roads that give you a taste of what off-roading is all about. It can be a good option for a family day out with children who enjoy running around on safe mountain trails.

The Route

The 35 km loop is a blend of on-road and off-road exploration. The first stretch eases you in, building up to 15 km of pure off-road driving. Rocky trails twist through arid landscapes, unpaved stretches test your grip and control, and gravel plains stretch wide, inviting a sense of freedom.

Despite being beginner level, the route promises thrill and variety. There are no sand dunes or tricky sections—just a driving experience ideal for first-timers or anyone wanting a relaxed off-road day out.

Scenic Highlights

The route includes several scenic rest points. The highlight is a beautiful canyon-like area with a natural waterway, perfect for a short hike and a photo session. This is where the trail slows down and the experience deepens.

Take time to stretch your legs, capture photos and soak in the raw beauty of Sharjah’s hidden outdoors. With the full loop bringing the group back to the starting point, there is no need to worry about pickups or drop-offs.

Snacks, Safety & Setup

Registration includes refreshments, snacks and drinks carried throughout the trip. But it is not just about comfort—safety is key. Participants are expected to bring the following:
