Wadi Abadilah trail
Wadi Abadilah is a hike through a spring valley on the side of the beautiful Masafi mountains in Fujairah. It is one of the most discussed trails in the Fujairah region: a natural-pool hike where farms, vegetation and fresh-water springs create a green contrast to the surrounding mountains.
The banks of the spring are a popular place for family picnics and relaxing. The first part is gentle and shaded, while the later dry wadi section is more suited to hikers who are comfortable with boulders and uneven terrain.
Important weather alert
Do not take this trail if there is any sign of cloud or rain. Wadis can flood suddenly and dangerously. Check the local forecast, upstream conditions and official alerts before departure. If rain is forecast or clouds are building, cancel the hike and leave the wadi area.
Trail information
- Difficulty level: beginner to easy-moderate, depending on how far you continue.
- Elevation: approximately 260 m; elevation gain about 130 m.
- Distance: approximately 7 km.

About the trail
There are steps at the start that lead down into the wadi. Once below, turn right and walk beside the fence of the agricultural farms, where oranges, bananas and other plants may be growing. The first kilometre is a pleasant, cool walk with palm shade, small pools, water flow and natural springs. It is a good picnic section for families and children.
After around 1 km, the terrain becomes drier and more rugged. The far side of the wadi has several valleys and can be confusing, so record your route and do not assume you cannot get lost. When you reach a stairway on the left, a narrow line through the rocks ahead and another option to the right, take the left-hand stairs. They are built to pass the rocks. At the top, continue straight rather than turning left; this leads back down to the dry riverbed.
The later walking is through the dry riverbed. Be prepared for large boulders—some the size of two or three people—and move carefully over them. The passage after the farm can be tricky, so a group is safer than solo travel.
Wildlife, pools and greenery
This green valley supports wildlife. You may encounter snakes, frogs, lizards, insects and fish in the pools. Enjoy the springs, flowers, palms and rocky landscape from a respectful distance. Do not disturb animals, enter private farms or leave food and rubbish behind.
Mobile coverage can be absent in these areas. Download offline maps, tell someone your plan and do not rely on a phone signal for navigation or emergency support.
