Hatta Trail Centre is a first MTB Centre in the Middle East, and is a wonderful destination covering multiple cross country route of various grades that servers to all individuals with all difficulty levels absolute beginners through to experienced riders.

Hatta MTB Trails is a bike trails but also a wonderful destination for hiking enthusiast and extreme beginners. The advantage is that you are not going to get lost here in these trails as it is officially been marked with directional bill boards, way points maps and GPX files by Dubai goverment itself. So whats stopping you from hiking !

The great new ever is it, the Hatta MTB Trails are free to ride and are open all year round. Ample parking and visitor facilities are provided by Hatta Municipality.

From Dubai take the 611 then take the E102 sign posted for Kalba from the E611 past Showka and through the mountains following the signs for Hatta. (NOTE the route using E44 is now closed)

The roads leading up to Hatta MTB Trails parking are smooth gravel/dirt roads. A regular saloon car can access both Hatta MTB Trails parking and camping areas.

Hatta MTB Trails Centre is a free public facility.

There is no charge for parking either. However be aware that the car park is unmanned. Please take any appropriate safety and security steps – secure any valuables, don’t leave anything visible, etc.

There is some bike hire available from Adventure HQ on friday and saturday mornings at the new visitor centre, it is also possible to rent mountain bikes at some of the bike shops in Dubai and at Showka Cycles in Showka thats on the E102 en-route to Hatta.

The present situation is that Hatta MTB Trails project is still under development and there are construction going around.

There is an Emirates Coop Supermarket located at the main Hatta roundabout, where you can buy water, food, and camping supplies. Many small cafeterias serve traditional arabic food in the Hatta village, why not give them a try and experience authentic local warm welcome.

On most of the Hatta MTB Trails the mobile signal is strong, however in some of the low areas you may loose it. In that case mobile reception can be restored by climbing to the higher ground.

In case of a medical emergency there is a small clinic near by as well. But you may need to call ambulance using 998.

You can use the Hatta MTB Trails Camp site (there are large areas of flat ground close to the toilet and shower block and also at the other side of the wadi), or if you would prefer to stay in something a little more luxurious, have a look at the JA Hatta Fort Hotel.

There are no official group rides at the Hatta MTB Trails Centre, however following groups hold regular group rides – all of which are free to join – please make sure you check before hand if they’re suitable for your level of skill/fitness:

Code of conducts at Hatta MTB Trails

Since this is a popular destination and plenty of visitors coming across the seasons, there is general rule of conduct which need to be followed for the safety of every one.

Before you set off..
  • Inform your friend or family where you going and whats your plan.
  • Carry a soft copy or a print out of the trail map.
  • Carry the right equipment for trucking and biking.
  • Have your mobile phone fully charged and keep a spare battery for phones and GPS devices
  • Don’t rely on others. Be self sufficient.
  • Study and match the colour coded system of Hatta Trails to your riding ability, don’t overestimate
  • Carry enough drinking water. Minimum 2 liters for 5 Km distance.
On the trails..
  • Always wear the right safety gear (cycle helmet and gloves)
  • All trails are designed in one way system, please follow the route direction arrows to ensure safety.
  • Always follow the official signage and directions & look for warning signs.
  • Only tackle trail features within your abilities.
  • Expect the unexpected and watch out for other riders
  • Always be polite and courteous to other riders and allow to other riders to pass
  • Faster riders please inform the rider ahead of your intentions to overtake
  • Train before embarking on the difficult and technical routes
  • Hikers please step away from the trails to give way to bikers.
After your ride..
  • Keep parking area clean , Use the designated toilet & shower facilities (be discrete & respectful)
  • Please throw trash in designated areas.
  • Enjoy the rest of your day with plenty of local cafes and shops available in Hatta town centre

Routes of Hatta MTB Trails

The trails are divided into different grades of routes to accommodate every level and experience of a rider:

  • GREEN – for beginners,
  • BLUE for intermediate,
  • RED for experienced
  • BLACK for very skilled & experienced riders.

This is the code sign for bikers, but it can be considered same for hikers as well.

All routes and junctions are marked with directional arrows on marker. Additionally the trails are marked with painted stones that correspond to the trail grade you are on. Also see the full trail centre map located at the start of all the trails.
