Rock Climbing
Rock climbing is categorized as an extreme adventure sport in which participants climb up, down or across natural rock formations or artificial rock walls. The goal is to reach the summit of a formation or the endpoint of a usually pre-defined route without falling. Rock climbing is a physically and mentally demanding sport, one that often tests a climber’s strength, endurance, agility and balance along with mental control. Knowledge of proper climbing techniques and use of specialized climbing equipment is crucial for the safe completion of routes.
Safety : With proper safety and gears, rock climbing is a very safe sporting activity.
Training.
Before you jump into any climbing sports activity. you must go through some basic climbing training. It is recommended to approach any approved climbing gyms to get familiarize with equipment terms and terminologies.
The basic things includes but not limited to wearing a safety harness properly, how to tie basic knots like figure 8, How to tie a prusic, How to use a belay device etc.
There are several gym offering beginners training and those how are planning to take this climbing seriously must attend those training. Otherwise you might end up in serious injury or death.
Indoor Climbing.
There are many indoor climbing gym across UAE offering memberships and training. It is always fun to hangout in these gyms with a group of buddies.

Outdoor climbing.
Event though there are no mountains in Dubai, Climbers can find lots of spot for climbing in the jabel jais region. There are well established growing community and there are few outdoor crags available for climbers. Well documented routes and not available. But i will be updating the routes and bolts as i go. There are many small groups and well experienced climbers going for weekend trips to these crags. you might be able to find them in facebook or meetup. More details will be updated as on the go.
