Baqal is the name of a remote and historic mountain settlement in Northern Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Inaccessible by road, it is a popular hiking destination.
The village is traditionally home to members of the mountain-dwelling Shihuh tribe (giving rise to the modern Emirati family name Al Shehhi) and has no services. Uninhabited today, many of the village’s former residents and their descendants visit the village in the cooler winter months.
Background
This is quite an hike which will drain a lot of energy. Totally non technical but 30* to 70* steep walk for and average 3 hour for a bigger.
The advantage is that there is no way you can get lost in this trail. Its pretty well done. Looks like more like a damaged rocky rod. i believe even the best off-roader will not be able to make it.
The negatives of this hike is that there is literally no shades. If you need to take break you will have to find a some spot behind big rocks. Lucky for us there were patches of clouds.
you might want to go through out checklist before starting ahead. You might not need all of them. but if you see whats more import for you.
This is the must have list.
- have 4 litre of drinking water.
- Sugar booster like softdrinks or chocolates etc.
- Proper hiking boot with good grip.
- sunhat sunglass
- Fully charge phone. (switch off data and gps if not in use to save battery)
- Head torch, just in case you are getting late

Route to Baqal Village
as usual head towards wadi Naqab. You can don’t necessarily require a 4 wheel drive to reach the final parking spot. Wadi naqab will be the first pit stop.
Few meters away from the first spot, the pin location below will give a road which is going up the hill. That is your trail. just go ahead.
