Al Qudra lakes and near by dunes are one of my favorite spot for going for a weekend Hike, Its not really a hike. It is more likely a walk in the desert through dunes. It is more like a weekend destination for families, couples and friends.
This one is for the beginner campers who still want the sight of Dubai’s skyline in the background to not feel too homesick. Its not too far. Just an hour drive from Dubai and because of this reason it has become very popular weekend destination for all Dubai families. So it is usual to see crowds during the weekends and specially in the evening.
The area is Huge and there will be plenty of space for everyone to pitch a tent. But you have to be very careful to follow the instruction from Dubai municipality as it is maintained by them. You may get fined for breaking the rules. This place is having free-roaming (harmless) wildlife and beautifully quaint lakes, and authorities are trying hard to keep the area clean and good. So no littering and dispose the garbages in the designated area. Remember there is a speed limit enforced in the unpaved roads and you might see some wild animals like deers, rabits and birds crossing the roads. So be vigilant while driving.
There are few activities and Sports you can indulge in your visit here. I will make a blue print for your travel here below.
First Stop at Alqudra.
This will be the first pit stop on your race to al qudra.
They have got a gas station, Last exit food caravans, restaurant, Mini supermarkets, Cafeteria, Washroom, Cycle rentals, and few other shops. This is the first place you want to stop buy before going to Al Qudra parks. And this is the only place you can find good restroom as well. Here you can stock firewood, charcol, refuel etc.
Al Qudra Camping Areas.
The following places are kind of far from the animals and ponds and seems like more an opt place for camping. you will see many group camping here and there in this area. So if you are travelling in a huge group and planning to party and BBQ whole night, you might want to choose this location.

The handiest piece of equipment to bring is probably a pair of binoculars, as there are 100 different species of bird roaming around the lakes, along with dessert plants to look out for.
Forget the 4x4s and extreme sport equipment, this is an oasis that’s best spent taking in the scenery. You’ll find a camping area at Al Qudra Lakes East, and from there you can pitch up that tent and officially become a camper of Dubai. If you’re in the mood for more of a romantic camping trip, you may want to set up shop near Al Qudra’s “Love Lakes” right next to The Last Lake of Al Qudra, but it won’t be too hard to find either as signs have been set around the lakes that point to the spot.
Remember, no fire in the ground. No trash in the ground. Or you will get fined.
Al Qudra Cycling.
Those who do fancy a good workout can take their bikes around Al Qudra Cycle Track, spanning 86km which includes a 50km loop – just in case you’re afraid of venturing a tad too far. You can have the option to rent a bike as well. There is a cycle shop in the last exit and they do maintenance as well.
Al Qudra evening drive through with photoshoot
This is one the best option you can have here if you are with your family. kids will probably love this. You dont have to have a 4×4 vehicle to go off roading. you have a good 1 hour travel in your car with your loved ones through the unpaved road of alqudra lakes from last exit side to the Love lake. You can stop at love lake and spend some time there. Here is the route.
The below point will be your starting point. The alqudra lake east side.
After reaching here, on you google map set this location as you destination.
You will get a trail for approx 1 hour to travel through mud road. Its perfectly for for sedan cars. Just be careful around the corners and keep the speed limits.
still under updation.
